I know I asked about this last week, but I am again going to head out to Hyrum tomorrow and I'm wondering about the ice conditions? Anybody been out there recently.

I guess my problem is that even though I was out there last week and there was 8 inches of ice, I still get worried when we have had 40 degree days since.

Was there yesterday and it was fine, not going to last to much longer, unless we get some colder temps

How thick was the ice?

i would say 8 inches, probably hasnt changed much from when you were there last.

I was there today. There was 3 or 4" of good clear Ice with 5 or 6" of cloudy soft Ice on top. The edges by the boat ramp were fine getting on and off. Catching was steady most of the after noon. We were in 47' and had bites or hooked fish any where from 10' off the bottom to 5' under the ice with 15' and 30' producing the best. All were caught on green glow rat finkies.

Thanks the question, and the answers. Guess that's where I'll find myself Saturday morn. What I've heard of Newton's edges has me worried! (anyone got updates on that?)

So I'm gonna ask my same typical question - all those fish you caught were trout? Typical planter bows? Any with some size?

And the $10 question! Find any perch????
I'll let you know what I find this morning.

Same this morning, except a guy close to me pulled up a whopper for hyrum. Probably close to 20 inches and fat.

Ice was pretty thin by my standards. Probably about 4 inches. Unless we get another cold snap I think hyrum ice fishing days are coming to a close for me.

What part of Hyrum were you fishing? I was told a different report today about the ice. It was definitely not 4" where the report came from.

The spillway. Ice may have been 5 inches, I didn't have a ruler, but it is definitely getting thinner.
