went up to Montpelier res today. fished from about 9-4 hoping to catch a Kokanee.No such luck. had a blast with the wife tho finally may have her convinced that ice fishing isnt so bad.[cool] Caught alot of little perch, a few rainbows and two cutthroats.

Ya usually the same for me. Wish they'd put a predator species in there to thin the perch out and maybe wed get sum decent sized perch in there. The predators would Probly get fairly big themselves as well.

I can't imagine that they will put another species in there.
I think a slot limit on the trout might be the only thing that they could do to help, besides poisoning it again. With the track record that they have had on poisoning it, I think that would be a waste of money.
They need some big predatory trout!

I fish montpelier alot and see alot of people throw the perch back. If they would throw them on the ice and let the eagles and other preditors eat them it would help. I tell people not to throw them back but its hard for some that throw everything back.I do keep most of the perch I catch cause its worth it to me cause there so good. Alot of work to clean but well worth the effort.
I was just reading about henerys derby suggestions and was thinking maybe aperch derby at montpelier res. would be a fun thing and that would help eliminate alot of them.

A perch derby at Montpelier or Roberts would be a great idea. Filleting all of those little buggers would be a trial of perseverance. Distance might be an issue, but it could be fun!

Fillieting all of them would be a challenge but you wouldnt have to do them all.Just the ones you want to. the main object is to thin them out and have fun catching alot of them. And win the prizes of the derby! Im sure it woud be a fun time and I dont think fish and game would havee a problim with it. If enough people would support it I think we could get a hot dog stand set up by some charitable org. Something to think about. I would help as much as possible.
