tried to get on hyrum this afternoon that was a no go. very soft edges my 60 lb. pit bull jumped over the soft part walked five feet out and the ice started to crack i thought he was going in for sure. he turned right around and after a minute he got brave and jumped back over the soft edges the cracking ice scared the crap out of him he has fallen through ice on a swimming pool and twice he has fell overboard while trolling and he cant swim. I dont know youll need long planks to get out on the ice if you are crazy enough to get on it i was on the west end south of the spill way

Thanks for the report. I was thinking about trying to hit up Hyrum on Saturday, and it sounds like you may have just saved me a trip. Maybe I will see if I can talk my wife and son into hitting some soft water a la one of the dams on the Logan river. Thanks!
+2 to that. Thanks for the report. I'd bet the North edges are as bad or worse. Rumor was they'd stopped or slowed the outflow, so water was rising. Bad for edges!
Plus they're supposed to be having a tourney there this weekend. Good luck with that folks!
I'll be hitting some rivers on Friday. Jdawg - I'll let you know if I find anything interesting out there! I'm thinking we're going to have EARLY spawns this year, unlike last year's crazy late late season! The fish are watching the thermometer, not the calendar! I've got Daffodils poking up already.
Mantua might still be accessible - but you may need a plank to get on. I'm about ready to dust (the fresh snow) the boat off, and start thinking about floating!
