Little Dell - Went with my twin from 6pm to Midnight. We started a hole and 2/3rds of the way through my new auger extension broke. We "hand turned" the shaft by turning the top of the swirly drill. Needless to say we shared one hole until BFT's Loanfish showed up at 9pm.

At 10pm the bites turned on! Loanfish got 7 cutts (and lost plenty more), I got 2 cutts, and my twin got 2 Cutts. Lots of missed hook-ups were to be had by all. Glow jigs and glow kastmasters were the ticket. Green was the best glow color. We were in 36 feet of water fishin the bottom. The shooting stars and coyote howls close by were epic!

Loanfish sayin "fish stink!"

Nice. Not to give you a hard time but you might look into the park hours before heading up again: http://www.ci.slc.ut.us/utilities/ud_rec....htm#Hours
I bet you had the place to yourselves[laugh].

The Recreation Area is open to pedestrian access during daylight hours all year long.

It's a Salt Lake City rule not a state fish and game one. I'm not claiming they enforce it. It might be like the laws that require stopping at stops signs and stoplights in SLC. On the books but rarely if ever enforced.

good to know. thanks riverdog

I'm sorry but - Loanfish looks like he's about to sneeze, poop, or puke. Is that the Tequila talking? Tell him to stop wearing them trout as a moustache, and then he might not smell so much.

RE: Hours: Hey - when in doubt - ask a ranger.
We had a discussion about Roe at Rockport. According to "da book" you can't use gamefish for bait. But when we asked - sounded like they don't care if they innards.

Kinda like not "removing" a Bull trout from the waters in Idaho. (they straightened that one up - and I was right, believe it or NOT! - yes miracles happen)
Ok to lift, photo, remove hook, and return. Just no livewells on the ice, or stringer storage kinda thang.

I know lots of parks say they close at 10. I've been off WIllard past 10, and (luckily) the gates will open from the inside to let you outside. Seen folks camp at day use spots along Cutler, so . . .

Some laws are "governed" pretty lax. Though you might find that one cocky motorcycle cop who takes a tight line on a rolling stop, or that small town cop who KNOWS when a little boat is exceeding wake limits and proximity regulations!
And - some don't believe in (reasonable) warnings. But cops are not rangers, and rangers are not really cops (at least in attitude. authority - maybe yeah, but attitude - not so much!)
Good on you. I wondered about ice fishing there, because of all the restrictions and what not. How thick was the ice? Thanks for the post and info...

They can be bought painted. The fee both guy didn't care what time I left but yeah he would lock my car in. He just asked me to park outside the lot gate and still pay is all.

The inlet is still open. There is one tiny section of open water on the South side. There is a tiny thin area along the south side as well. Ice was 10 inches thick! Edges are in great shape!
