I know there has been a lot of talk and speculation about the ice conditions at Hyrum. The facts are this: The water master did shut our flood gates last weekend. We fought a mighty battle but ended up loosing and the gates were closed. This has caused the water level to rise which has lifted the ice up. The people that say they are falling through are the ones that are trying to get ATV's and Snowmobiles across open water to the ice, as well as those that are getting too close to the edges. There is an agreement to build safe planks to get us across the gap of water for the tournament and I will personally be on the ice tomorrow checking ice thickness and the integrity of the ice. This has been brought to the attention of those signed up if they provided me information to get in touch with them. If you have signed up but haven't heard from me and would like to talk to me give me a call 435-994-1646. There has also been a big push from people that already know the conditions to hold the tournament so as of now it is still on, but again I will be on the ice tomorrow and will make a final determination.

I appologize to all for the inconvenience it has been very frustrating. Who knew it wouldn't snow this winter, not fun for the ice fishing.

Anyway if anyone has any questions feel free to call me 435-994-1646. Thanks again for your patience!

Went by last night around 5. 2 guys coming off at beach area using extension ladder. Another lone guy by the spill way. Looked too scary for me.
Yet this morning edges were iced up and I watched a guy with his kids get on just fine at beach area without a plank. Open water on South end but I think all in all should be pretty safe tomorrow for derby! Might need a plank to get off in afternoon.
Smiles Always!
