First let me start by thanking Jazzperch1 and Crossin eyes for the info they provided upon request for the ice conditions. It was good driving over being assured getting on the ice was not going to be a problem.

We (two of us) left the park and ride at 0500. We were on the ice at 0830. We parked near the west end of the Dam and walked down from there. The edges were very thin but thanks to the stepping stone we were able to step on to the ice with no problem.

After punching half a dozen holes through good ice I dropped down to find a stack of perch. I set up and soon began sorting through the perch. 1200 I had my 50 so I began searching for a trout that might be interested. About 3 hrs. later found one that was willing. That was the only one. By 1600 my friend topped off his bag of perch so we loaded up for the ride home.

Getting off the ice was not so bad even though there was open water around the edges, not so bad that we couldn't reach the stepping stone. The walk back up the hill was slick with mud from the days thaw.

There were three fisherman we could see as we crossed the bridge one was near the boat ramp south east of the bridge, one on the south west and another on the north east. Latter in the morning I could make out a couple off anglers that appeared to have walked west of the of the Marina to the other side. Later there were a couple near the open water north of the Marina. Early afternoon there were two others that came on to the ice to the north of the Dam. Have no idea of Rabbit Gulch area as we did not stop to look.

Thanks again for the help I was given to have enough confidence to make the trip over. It's a long drive if you can't get on the ice. RJ

Thanks for the report! I'm headed out to rabbit gulch tomorrow with a good group of people, hope it's still decent conditions!
