[mad]Hated to do it but decided enough was enough, I put all the ice gear away for the year. This was by far my worst year of ice fishing as long as I can remember. Past years I would be planking it to the last bit of ice but the fishing has been so slow overall this year I had to call it the end. I had many of great days catching trout but I personally would rather catch panfish and this has been tuff this year. The highlight of my season would have to be the trip at the gorge with Fishley catching all those burbot with my friend icejunky. With this said I have enjoyed the hard deck and the time spent with friends, now it's time to prepare for soft water and get the boat ready. Bring on the walleye, wipers, panfish and bass, oh my let the games begin.[fishin]

[#800000]While I'm going to be side-lined for a couple of weeks treating my bride to some sunshine and warmth, I'm hoping to get maybe one or two more trips when we get back in March. Some of the higher elevation lakes should still be doable - I hope. I haven't been able to put any tiger trout in the freezer this year and would like to get a couple before it's all over for another year.[/#800000]

[#800000]But I'm also looking forward to Lake Powell in March/April as well.[/#800000]

[#800000]And to all y'all still able to get out on the hard deck - be careful out there.[/#800000]

Are you going with a manual or hydraulic jackplate?

I was saying the same thing, but hadn't quite packed up the ice-sled. Hit softwater Friday for some venturing - not a lot of catching, but got into some.
THEN my buds gotta go convince me we can get on the ice today - so we did. Wasn't stellar fishing, but did hook into a few. Between us got onto some decent perch, gills, crappie and bass. No 50 inch Musky through the ice, so my bucket list has slots open still!
Glad to have to boards to get back off, but think we coulda been ok. It was the gooky MUD bog we had to drive through to get out that had ME more worried (just keep driving, just keep driving - don't STOP!)
I'll put up a post later. I can say I had a 100 fish day, but it had nothing to do with ice, or panfish.
Sure had a LOT more ice-jigs I'd hoped to wet this year. Ah well, just have to try using them ALL SUMMER too!
Lots of water around to have the boat on..[

Nice! That is what i put on my boat a couple years ago! I am still playing and tweaking with it! Finding the sweet spot i have found to be a little tough. Good luck and may this spring bless us with big fat bass!
