For you guys (or girls) that go steelheading, when is your favorite season? Do you prefer the winter/spring? Or do you prefer the fall? Why?

Also, where do you like to go steelheading the best? You don't have to give up honey holes, but try to be as specific as possible!

Thanks!

sorry, but that is funny.

ha ha...I can see how that would be funny. I just meant what river do you like to fish the best, or what general section of that river. Nothing too specific. [cool]

I like spring steelheading, mostly because in the fall I'm hunting. From what i've been told the fish will just cruise through the holes in fall and in the spring they will stack up in the holes as they stop to rest, which has been my experience for spring fishing. I like fishing the canyon past shoup, but I'm a one-trick-pony when it comes to steelhead fishing. I use corkies and shrimp or spawn but I've also started using trout beads with pretty good success.

Yeah, we all did really good that day. It was so fun catching those huge fish.

I have fished alot of different places for Steelhead, but my favorite is the same as Austin's: Dutch Oven reaches on the Salmon below Shoup.

As soon as I find some sweet drift fishing holes on the Clearwater that might change though. . .

my glory days of steelheading took place any where between shoup and corncreek and from deer creek up to the pahsimeroi hatchery. i can honestly say i am still not a fan of steelhead fishing on the clearwater.
