My 21 year old son and myself went fishing up at Roberts Pond last Saturday. We both love fishing for and eating perch. Originally we had wanted to go to Mackay Res. to fish for kokanee and trout, but with the snow storm coming in we stayed closer to home and fished Roberts. I thought maybe there might be four or five other people fishing Roberts and was really surprised to see about 70 people on the ice with most being children ice fishing with a few adults supervising the kids. I finally asked one of the adults if there was some kind of fishing event going on. He said the Idaho Department of Fish and Game was sponsoring an ice fishing event for children and families. I was quite impressed with the turnout and the excitement of the children. There were quite a few families with both mom and dads there to help their children. Everyone was having fum and many were catching perch and trout. At noon hot dogs with chili on top and hot chocolate and cookies were served for everyone at the lake. My son and I caught about twenty-five perch in a couple of hours with most running about 4-5". It was just nice to break the cabin fever and spend time together. It was good to see the next generation of fisherman learning how to fish.

I was wondering how that turned out. Thanks for the report.
