The Holler has been good to me this winter. probabaly one of the best. This makes about my 10th trip since Dec. and we have wacked some good ones in bunches. Water temp 47 to 48, smallmouth staging up to spawn, can catch em deep and shallow (swallow by DH standards ) fish being caught on jerkbaits. swimbaits, jigs, float and fly in other words they ain't real hard to catch now. Call ole Thomas at horsecreek and book you a room and get out of the rat race for a while and go have yourself some fun.
It was windy yesterday and we didn't get to fish our regular stuff but we found a pattern that worked and we caught somewhere in the neighborhood of 25. We were fishing spawning type places that had some kind of drop on them and we were catching them 18 to 25 ft. I don't think it mattered much what we were throwing but it wouldn't the A-RIG.
Did catch one over 6 and it was the only fish we weighed. We ran maybe 15 miles up river and never saw a single boat on the water. We didn't hear know dogs barking, no lawnmowers or weed eaters, or leafblowers, wouldn't 5 TX'S going on, we just heard Turkeys gobbling, saw eagles flying, and big brown fish jumping out of the water but thats what you get at the Holler.
