Saw this video on the utah avalanche center this morning. The slide was triggered yesterday. Imagine your ice fishin the lake at the bottom of the video (where the other snowmobilers are) and BOOM the slope above comes crashing down! The slide in the video runs right into the lake. This is why I have a beacon, shovel, probe, and avalung at the ready when I do my high mountain adventure ice fishing trips! The danger was considerable with pockets of high yesterday. By the way snowmobilers are NOT ALLOWED there! I wish there was a poaching like hotline for these law breakers.

Makes you wonder if those guys caused that avalanche on propose, just so they could film it[:/].
If it is illegal to be there on snowmobile, the agency that makes those rules could use the video clip to prosecute who ever posted it but I doubt they would bother.

My guess is that the guy filming it was actually just skiing in the area.
It is very popular as it is between alta and brighton ski areas. Still gives me the creeps as I have wanted to go to Catherines if Lake Mary were too slow.

"I got good video of the event because I knew of the danger today and I saw the snowmobile heading up a high risk zone. I was skiing at rocky point from Alta."

wow wouldnt wanna be down there on the ice. that is ne of my favorite places to go in late summer and fall you can catch as many as casts you toss out there and they are nice sized.
