David and I got a late start today, we hit the water at 2:30. We tried some deep water spots
to look for big fish. Started on some brush piles in 14 fow, we caught small fish, NEXT! Tried a
drop from 10 foot to 20 foot. I caught one good fish, side finder showed few fish. It was right.
Then we put the side scan to work in open water near deep water. We have never fished this area
before.I found a brush pile in 10 foot of water, with a drop off close at 15 fow. Had fish all over it.
Kept scanning the area, found another spot close, with wooden structure. Marked both, backed off,
we both were throwing 1/16 oz. jigs, with Outlaw Special bodies. On my third cast, I touch the brush
with my jig, then get pounded. This fish runs me all around the boat. A 15 1/4 in., 2.1 lb. white crappie,
tarp #4 of year. I'm getting the feeling we have found something. Next cast, touch the brush, get crushed.
Another 15 incher, 1 lb.15 0z., tarp #5. We both are catching crappie, all whites. I get another one, this
one at 14 1/4, tarp #6. David, the best jig fisherman I've ever fished with, has had enough of my show-
boating. He goes back to back, 2.1 lb., 14 7/8. and a 2.3 lb. 15 inch, to shut me up. I think a three pounder,
could come from here in the future. Again, all white crappie, we are loving it. We didn't have time to throw on the
other marker, I think we caught around 25 - 30 keepers on the day. 5 tarps, 3 at 15 inch or better. I had a great
time fishing with the girls the other day, but sometimes you got to leave em at home and do work. I think
these monster white crappie are more than Candi can handle anyway. I pray she doesn't read this, I think I
was kidding. Yeah, I'm sure I was kidding.
