Polo called me this AM and asked if I wanted to go fishing with him today. Of course, I jumped at the chance to fish with Polo. We did a lot of scouting today and finding new places. The first new place that we took about 15 minutes to find and mark, yielded 10 small crappie, most of them were white crappie. We fished hard in all kinds of places and only landed 8 more small crappie today. Can you believe that Polo and the Drumking did not land a keeper today? Incredible as it sounds, that is what happened to us today.

I did manage to land a small yellow bass, 1 rock bass, but no pets for me today and I was planning on taking one home with me too. emoBang Polo caught a very nice keeper bass late in the afternoon. We were so carried away with fishing and enjoying the beautiful day that I missed an appointment that I had today. Sorry, Dr Phil. emoSorry

All the fish that we did manage were deep. We tried shallow banks, coves, etc, but did not connect with any keeper crappie. They must be in transition and not holding to docks (the ones we fished anyway) or on deep structure. They are in that nebulous in-between. Time for Rsimms to shine with his trolling (cheating) technique. emoPoke JK Richard. You know that we love you. I had rather kiss my sister than troll for crappie or any other species.

Lots of folks out today. My number one spot that I really wanted to fish had someone near it this AM and we wouldn't infringe upon them. Didn't want to let them see us if we did get into a bunch of crappie. We saw Labman and Ditchdoc out today. Chatted both of them up before resuming. Also saw Hippie and he had a limit, so someone had them figured out. I guess that this is what I get for fooling with yellow perch and ignoring crappie for so long. If you don't keep a pulse on them, they can move and you are lost then. emoBigSmile emoGeezer

We saw water temps up to 61 degrees in the creek. Mostly in the mid to upper 50's in the lake. If we don't get some cold weather soon, the fish might spawn 2 or 3 weeks early this year.
