Went out to Willard south bank on Saturday last weekend, with Joe (son in-law). Well to say the least it was cold. The sun only came out for a short time then decided to tease us with its warmth. We baited up with shrimp and cut chub. After sitting there for about an hour we started to get bit. Finally my pole went down and a nice "Spring" Kitty came to the rocks. Joe climbed down the icy rocks and after a picture we let her loose.
That was it, the Bite as off and the temp. told us it was time to go. 35 deg less with the wind chill.
Still we got out and it was fun. Not to bad for February.

Nice, glad to see the cats are still in there. Man spring kitties cannot be beat! Great report and thanks for the details.

Nice - the cookies come out to play!
Haven't heard from you for a while bud - wondered if you fell of the planet. I'm ready to hit Idaho with ya now! Don't know if there's any ice left, but the bass should be coming out to play soon!
Clearly the kitties are feeding a bit. Was the wind blowing towards you're shore or away? I'd guess this is the time of year they'll find pockets of windblown shad from winter die off.
Looking forward to the waters warming and finding them nice channels moving into the shallows!
I need more practice for sure - but I did get a go with that cast net and got into some minnows. So I'm ready!

[#0000ff]In the past I have had some of my best kitty trips in February. It can be especially good at the mouth of the south marina when the water is flowing. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]That spot down off the feed lot usually produces pretty well early in the year too.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I got some walleye whackin' to do on Utah Lake for the next few weeks but we will do a meetup after the south marina opens...sometime in April.[/#0000ff]

Thanks for the post...glad to see the bay did not give you the skunk. That place is a harsh mistress....hopefully your catch was a sign that the cats this year are gonna go bite crazy this year.
