Maybe it isn't appropriate to start a new thread with this, but I didn't want to lengthen any of the other threads. I've appreciated this forum for the information I've recieved from it (and hopefully I have been able to occasionally contribute a little as well). Recently, however, there have been a few glaring examples of people who exhibit less than civil discourse here. Man, people, get a grip!! I thought this is supposed to be a place where people can converse about one of the things we enjoy most - fishing! Can't we do it in a civil manner - with respect for others' opinions and with respect for each other. As the old saying goes, if you can't say anything nice, please don't say anything at all. If something on here gets your feathers ruffled, let it go and go wet a line - it will get better as soon as you have a fish on the end of the line. I, for one, think the moderators do a Great job and appreciate the input of many of the major contributors on here as well. Thanks! Just my humble opinion.

I agree. For the most part Idaho has a great board with few problems, but once in awhile some junk crops up. I am glad we have good moderators who jump in and remind us to mind our manners.

I enjoy each of your comments and contributions. Thank you all for your advice and reports over the years. I have learned a bunch, and I thought I knew all about fishing as I have been fishing since I was 3. I hate to admit it, but that was a REALLY long time ago!

So thank you everyone, and especially the moderators that work to make this a pleasant place to visit.

+1....... You guys are awesome, and I hate to see some people on here not receive respect for their opinions. Respect is one thing that some people never seem to understand.

Every year this comes up around the same time. Chalk it up to cabin fever or being more brazen because of being behind a computer. The issues you mention will soon enough disappear, but some one else will always step up to fill those shoes whether we want them filled or not. I think it is just part of the internet experience. You will also notice the longer someone is around on this forum, the more cival they are.

If more people would remember what Thumper's mother told him, the world would be a nicer place.

You hear it all the time, specially at Beauty Pageants...."World Peace". Well getting that one or two on a fishing forum that think they speak for everyone, think they know more, or just think they are funny, what makes us think that will ever happen.

I also hear you all say the Idaho forum doesn't have as many disputes as other...I guess the key word is "as many" .

Lately the Idaho boards have been pretty crazy. like prvrt said it will calm down as soon as everybody gets out and does some fishing.

I'll be glad as well when the spring creeks are once again flowing and the schools of Kokanee are milling around the lake. I miss the sight of an osprey or and eagle taking a meal off of the waters surface. [fishin]

Our passion for catching fish is a common thread but no more significant than driving the same make of automobile or rooting for the same football team. Beyond that, we are very different people with varying beliefs, temperaments, attitudes, and personalities; it is only natural that wires will get crossed and tempers will flare.

A little understanding goes a long ways, but it is usually a challenge for us to understand any viewpoint other than our own. I suppose the key is to not take anything strangers say to--or about--you on the Internet too personally, whether that be discipline from a moderator or a sophomoric joke at your expense.

Speaking only for myself, I appreciate the variety of opinions as much as I do the wealth of experience and advice to be found here.

Now, spring is springing--let's get out there and catch some fish!

I went down a week ago and you can tell the low water flow is starting to affect the fish. They seem to be getting a little drawn out. I hope the levels come back up so they can get more spread out and not have to fight for food. And just say when and I'll let ya show me how it's done on the little bear fly style.

Speaking towards the civility of those who fish, I gotta hand it to my kin up on the Salmon this weekend. Had one group take an hour out of their day to help us check out boat problems, and give us a ride to town (and a few drinks) with full welcome, and another guy spend 3 hours getting our boat running the next day (not to mention the 20 mi ride). Nothing but good to say about Idaho fisherfolk this weekend, and only rarely see otherwise up north. Closer to town is a mixed bag, but still +97% are welcome in my camp.

+1 to that, Hopefully an early spring for us all.
