Anyone been there in the last week or so? 3 weeks or so ago the report was pretty good but haven't heard anything since?

Hit is Saturday morning, Got blown off within a hour. Had two on but lost them both. There were some pretty good swells out there. We were on the east side.

were you trolling or jigging? I've never fished it in spring/summer, only the fall.
What are your suggestions to use?

We were trolling, but both are effective this time of year. A great place for reports and advice is on Pugstone's web site. www.fishingbearlake.com Darin usually has a recent report and techniques. Troll with Flat fish or rapalas. Move depths until you find the fish. Jig with tubes and the same. Move until you find them.

[cool]thanks-I'm glad you reminded me about Pugstones...I'll let you know how it goes.

Good morning - you mentioned east side - never fished there but was looking at the southeast side. Any suggestion on best place to launch on the east side that is available now - or do you just launch at the state marina and head across. Appreciate your input.

We launched at Rainbow Cove. There is also First Point. Both are really good launches if there is not ice there. That you would have to check from day to day as the ice blows around. Launching from the state marina works also. I have done this before and run across.

thanks - I'll post next week after the maiden trip with the new alumacraft and give a run down on the fishing.

We'll be there as well, but probably launch at spinakers or the marina and fish the rock pile and Gus Rich point. The weather looks like it is going to be awesome, good day to get out. Good luck.

Landed 3 cuts, all natives. Gorgeous day! All three near rock pile on flatfish ( silver/green ). Saw a couple in a small boat during extremely well jigging. Just amazing beauty out there, love the water color! 16-17" fish.

Thanks for the report, i hope it is good tommorrw [Smile]

As of right now there is a skim of ice on 70 percent of the lake, rock pile is skimmed over. From the BL west the east side looks like one could launch

I fished Bear Lake today and was surprised that most of the lake is covered with 1/2 to 1 inch of ice. It made fishing very difficult.

Which side of the lake did you fish?

I was with Jazz today & we fished the West side. Talked to BearLakeFishGuy, who ventured over to the East side & he said there was ice over there also. You could get around, but it made it a pain in the butt to fish.

How was the catching?
[signature]
We picked up a few, but very slow compared to what it has been.

We only caught two yesterday, mainly because the ice blocked the area we wanted to fish or maybe it was the moon[:p]. There were five boats around us trolling in a circle because it was the only open spot in the ice after getting out of the marina. Saw a couple different BFT members up there but didn't get their user names. It was a nice day at the big blue, it's too bad the catching wasn't better[unimpressed].

Sounds like you ran into the same thing we did. The ice really limited where you could fish. Good to see you caught a mack.
