Little Dell - Desperate for soft water casting we hit the open water of LD. About 1/3 of the lake was open from the inlet end. We fished from 3pm to 5:15pm. My twin caught the only fish of the day, a decent cutthroat trout. I got 2 bites. All the bites, fish, and followers were at the ice's edge.

My twin was using a Strike King Red Eyed Shad in "bad to the bone" color. I was using a gold kastmaster of mine and a krocadile in silver and blue that I got in the parking lot. Both got a bite. We had a few followers on a orange glow jig. Should have ice fished it instead. Or pontoon? [cool]

The lonely cutt.

Thank god I got at least one fish today. Really I should have put on the "Bad to the Bone" much earlier in the day...I bet I coulda managed more fish for the day. With the water level as low as it is I was standing in places that I normally catch fish. Can't wait till the water levels rise again. That mud along the shore was terrible...probly the worst I have ever seen it. I was actually tempted to cross the ice insted of walking back on the shore line. Can't wait for the "official" ice off....that is gonna be some great fishing I bet.

I was wondering about the ice and just kept driving past on my way up and down the canyon. Thanks for the heads up guys.

The ice hasn't retreated from the shorelines though. That I hope will be interesting.
