Was just wondering with the nice weather if anyone had gone down and hit up Oneida or the Bear river for some Walleye? Think I am going to head down there Wednesday but was hoping I could get an idea of how the water quality is doing to decide which hole to hit.

clear and low. Young males are starting to show up in the usual wholes but nothing big yet. Fishing for them has been slow so far but by Weds you never know with these temps... I think this spring is gonna be a wonderful one for bear river and its Walleyes.... Best of luck to ya and we should hook up chase some eyes together man.......

Hit up Oneida on Wed and it is low and clear but couldnt really get anything to come and play. Tried above the lake, below the dam and below Preston and basicly got skunked the whole way around. The weather wasnt much help but the water all looks good for when they do decide to play.
Dma- I wish I would have read your post a little better. Didnt understand that you were good to go on Wed. Was understanding that you were going to be there Wed. My bad. We will have to try for the next time.

yes i have this darn cold and it totally stationed me in my bed! Was going to be there Weds but because of this crud i didn't even make it out of bed... Sorry to hear the report man. I'M going to shoot for next week about the same time and I think JeremyPeace wants to go as well.. Maybe we can all get together and try our luck for those eyes? I am thinking about loading up my little boat and trying that as well but will have to watch the weather...

Did you guys notice if the reservoir was ice free, or were you just fishing the river?

I went up there about 10 days ago and it was still iced over from the dam to about 400 yards Before the hot pools
Looked like really soft ice ready to start breaking apart for the most part though.

Thanks for the info. If it's not out now, I bet it will be soon. I'm hoping to start searching for prespawn smallies before too long. Maybe I'll have to try around the springs, I'll bet they move up sooner there.

The lake was basicly open up above the maple camp ground where the lake skinnies up. The ice looked like it was about to break free. Looked to be cracked up pretty good and I would say if there has been the type of wind here up there, you should be close.

Thanks for the info. With the wind that we got here on Saturday, I'll bet it broke up the last of it.
