Hey guys,
mme1, Tunahooker, and myself hit Jordanelle yesterday morning for five hours. It was 14 degrees when we got there at 7 am and launched from the PWC ramp which was totally clear of ice and snow. Water temps were 32/33 early and 36 by 11 am. Fishing was slow. We casted to the shore for browns for awhile and never saw one. We trolled for awhile and no luck there either. Towards 11 am we started to cast by the dam while Marc (mme1) dragged a small crankbait behind the boat. Marc connected with this nice 4 lb 2 oz 22" Cutt, which was released. Shortly afterwards I caught a 18" fat cutt-bow, again on a small crank. This one went home with Marc for dinner. We fished until noon, but that was it. We ran into a DNR officer on the shore and he said that the only other fish he'd seen caught all day was a small rainbow caught by a bank tangler. HTH, Fred K

Nice fish. How much of the lake is ice free?

Nice, chunky Cut. Glad to see people are out on a boat at Jordanelle!

Very impressive cutt. Gotta feel good about that one. Is the whole lake ice free? Rock Cliff area?

That was I that caught the small bow on shore. Nothing impressive around seventeen inches. I used rainbow powerbait no other bites the rest of the day.

The Rock Cliff arm is ice free most of the way to the river. Maybe the last 1/4 mile or so still has ice.

Heading north there is quite a bit more ice. Its still iced pretty much from the middle of the Hailstone point all the way to the north end. If the weather forecasted for early next week holds, it might be icing off this week..... I hope! HTH, Fred K.

Congrats, at least you got the one that hit! As slow as the day was, it would be a shame to get hit and miss it [:/] Fred.
