Hey guys. I have a beginner's question about a freshwater spinning reel I just picked up. I'm pretty new to fishing, I apologize for the trivia in advance...
I'm just starting out doing some fishing during my hikes so my gear is all pretty much ultra light.
I have an "Ultra Light" spinning reel that says the line capacity is 6/150, which I'm assuming means 150 feet of 6lb test.
From what I gather, braided line has a higher breaking strength than standard line at the same thickness, right? Is there some kind of conversion factor that would tell me what the equivalent line weight would be for braided line?
Thanks in advance.

braid is good but you have to use a leader of flourocarbon with your fly or lure.
not sure what your asking.

I've never seen one. I just put 150yards on the reel, no matter what kind it is.
Leader material is a good idea, but I don't bother and still catch fish.

My opinion,
forget the braided line,
go with Silver Thread N40.
that gives you the most line you can put on the spool at the smallest diamiter of line.
that should be 6lb x 150 yards.
one small spool is usualy 110 yards, wich is plenty for any body.
6lb and 8lb is a medium class line, ultra lights are 2lb and 4lb line.
I fish for trout gills and crappie all day with 4lb test line. seldom do I break a line, just use a good pollimer knot.
Don't get powrpro in 5 or 8,the line flattens out, then twist.I use 4lb fireline, but doesn't last that long. I use 6lb in suffix. You can put that on a 500,just make sure it goes on "evenly" and tight, sometimes you may need to add or remove a spacer to the spool to compensate, good luck. Its really great,I love that 6lb suffix line. 4lb in "floro",but wont cast that great.
