I heard the mac fishing at swim beach has been good. Lucerne boat ramp is ice free as well as buckboards. I would like to go up and get a early jump on some koke's for the smoker.

I fished the gorge on Friday. My wife and I caught our limits of rainbows from shore with worm and mallow. The lake has risen a lot over the past couple of weeks. I got soooo stuck at swim beach. I called a buddy to come pull me out at 9pm. He promptly buried his big extended cab dodge and we shoveled and hauled brush and rocks and gave up at midnight and called another buddy who called another buddy. They got there at 2:00 am and after a couple of hours of shoveling we were out at four and home by five. Fishing is picking up, but stay off the beaches they have got worse!

All launches are open with exception to Firehole.
Rainbow fishing has been fair in the lower lake. I picked some up this past weekend while casting jigs and also trolling with planer boards. Trolling with planers actually produced the bigger fish, up to 18-inches. The most successful set-up was the Rocky Mountain Tackle Serpent spoon in Tequila Sunrise, under a 1 oz. snapweight, trolling close to shore at about 1.8 mph. I also caught fish on jigs like 3-inch Yamamotos and Berkley Gulp in crayfish and minnow colors. Most of the hits came on the fall.
I covered a lot of water, but when I marked schools I would make multiple passes or casts to catch fish. I kept a limit for a meal and they were all "dark red" meat. Many of the schools were at the mouths of canyons and draws in the lower Canyon. Water temp is still only 38F and the rainbow fishing should continue to just get better with this week's weather forecast.
Hope it helps, Ryno
