we fished Oakley today and had a great day. trout fishing really picked up and boated over 14. My daughter had her best day hooking a huge walleye. But another boat came by close to watch and ended up getting there lines and ours tangled when the fish ran . we got the two boats close together and managed to free the fish only to have the wife throw it in reverse to keep the boats from hitting and wrapping the line up in the prop. I told her she could count it anyway as we would have been letting it go. doesn't look that big in the video but its tail had to have been a good 8 inches and i was too excited to judge length [cool]

That was a great day of fishing. Even if you don't get them all in the boat, it is a great memory catching fish like that.
Idahopanfish, that is great that you are getting a new boat!

There is a good ramp off of the trapper creek road if you look on google maps it will show the ramp.

Nice walleye. At least you know it's still there. I tried Oakley a couple weeks ago and plan to go back with my canoe or Bucksbag. I hope the walleye are hanging off the rocky points. Let me know if you want a crew for any trip and I'll buy the gas and sandwiches. If you get to Idaho Falls, I'll show you some fishing on the South Fork of the Snake.

Thanks, but for some reason I am not able to figure out where the ramp is. i see the map, and have the driving directions. Is it about half way down on the side with the road? Or is it by the dam?
Sorry, this is what my wife likes to call " Chuck happens"
Thanks.

How did you do the first time? Im sure fishing will be picking up from here on out.
[signature]
well its kinda tough to see on the map its almost at the upper end of trapper creek. there is only one well traveled road going down to the reservoir and thats the one you will want to take.
It will be just to the right of this point about 300 feet from where the cars are parked

Nope no warnings or hazards other than watch the road in sometimes you get to watching the reservoir and not the road. It can be a long way down. Access is easy somtimes we put the boat in in my toyota 2 wheel drive pickup. Good luck
