I have never done so but have thought about it is it legal in public water? Is it littering? Morally is it ok? What do you think? Please no arguments.

I've thought about it too. Never really researched it, but I think IDFG will frown on it. You got my curosity up I'll call them and find out for sure.

I'm sure it would depend on what you would like to drop as structure. They have fish trees that are.totally legal on most places. Problem is you have to leave them for a few days for the fish to start using them. And you risk some jerk coming by and stealing it.. your best source for correct information would be to.contact your local fish and wildlife management system and ask them. No one would no more about it than they would. I've scene lots of people dropping trees and tree clippings in a few places here in south east Idaho. Not saying it was legal bit IV scene people doing it..

a fish and game club in south east Idaho use to do a xmas tree dump when they were trying to get bass started in some of the preston area lakes. idk why something like that would be a problem as long as its not endangering anyone or the irragation prossess

i've done it at strike but dont know the laws. i would put in at 1st light and take them. no one to say i cant i thought. i have heard of clubs placing trees for structure. it wasnt worth the needle mess so far. i did it a few years in a row.

There are several spots on the north shore of Lake Lowell where bass clubs, F&W, and IF&G placed broken culvert pipe. The channel cats seem to like the area. Lake Lowell is hardly a lake that needs more cover. The south side needs a good controlled burn. I would imagine you would need permission from whoever controls the water.

The F&G dumped hundreds for several years into Ririe for habitat and nursery development. I'd give your local district F&G office a ring and get the word from the horses mouth!

I know the Idaho Bass Federation has done Christmas trees on a number of reservoirs in the past. I also know that they had to get permits from a number of different sources. I don't know what permits were needed as I was not involved on that end of it. I would not attempt it without knowing what is required.

I guess I should have asked where this has been done and try to find them instead of doing the work my self...
It's sounds like everyone is ok with it being done?

I think it is a great idea, but you have to get the permissions first.
