I have been on two different reservoirs as the ice just came off. The fishing was very slow with bait, but about a half hour before dark the fish started jumping steadily across the lake. I got so frustrated (twice) [mad]watching the fish feeding on the surface while my worm sat untouched on the bottom. What kind of flies do you think might catch these fish? They were jumping anywhere from two feet off the bank to the very middle of the lake. Any technique advice would also be appreciated.

maybe midges, maybe emergers, maybe choronimids

Emergers and dries. Try Caddis, BWO, Adams. OH, and this is a perfect time for Griffith Gnats.
