Fished Grantsville from the new pontoon yesterday evening. weather was perfect, not hardly a breeze. In my experience that's unusual for that lake. really enjoy the toon, compared to my "old reliable" float tube. seems like the wind really affects the toon more than the tube, which may take some getting used to. caught some fat, hard fighting rainbows. all seem to be clones of each other, about 14". only brought the fly rod this time. sinking line, and small brown or green buggers. thinking about windin' up the minn-kota next time and try trolling some small lures. landed 8, lost a couple, and had other hits that didnt materialize. not bad for a couple hours after work. was hoping for one of those elusive browns, but none wanted to play.

Check the regs on grantsville I don't think you can run a motor of any kind out there gas or electric?

electric is ok at grantsville [cool], no internal combustion.

I saw you out last night! There were 2 guys on pontoons and I assume you were one of them... It WAS unusually PERFECT for Grantsville. A beautiful night just before dusk and the very best way to spend 'after work' time. Yes, electric motors are find on the Res...just no gas. My son and young friend were jealous of you guys out on the boats as I was teaching them both how to cast and they kept seeing you catching fish!!

That was us. my dad and i just bought identical pontoons. yesterday was the maiden voyage. figured we better work the bugs out before we try bigger waters.
dad and i both thought it was awesome that you took the time to teach the boys, and were so patient! that was really the highlight of the trip for us. good luck at UL, and anywhere else u fish this year!

Thanks! Sometimes it takes a little patience to groom a future fishing buddy, eh? May the fishing be ever in your favor
