Just spent an hour fishing by the dam at scofield. Wow. We caught fish after fish in the slot. 18-20 inch cutthroats and a few tigers and rainbows.
There isn't a lot of open water, but enough for a dozen fishermen or so. Ice is about 25 feet off the shore and as soon as you drop the shiners down it's "fish on"

Goes to show how fast things open up. I was there yesterday, and there was no open water. Gotta love the wind! I am sure it helped!

how is the south west side? by the island

Went around the west side today and it varies.
Near Scofield town at the most southern access there is plenty of water. It is shallower there but due to the inlet there is plenty of open water. As you head north toward the island and the trailers/cabins the open water is tougher to find.

that is not the answer i am looking for but with warmer temps and winds next couple of days maybe i can try my toon out there by the fence is there lots of ice or how far does it go out
