Well, I'm trying to remove the memory from my fishing lines, which ware two spin-casting rods and a spinning rod. I was wondering how do I take the spool off of both of them?

I'm trying to put it in a bowl of warm water to remove the memory.

sorry, this dose not work.

you are talking about a grade of plastic, heating and cooling it will only make it brittle and will loose tincle strenth.

if it is new and is flying off the spool and knotting, chances are good you baught a trolling line insted of a casting line.

I suggest you strip the line off the spools and put on Silver Thread n-40 This will give you the best life of your line for the money.

old line is old line and if it has gotten to the point that it stays curlled after you have casted it is time to replace it. no getting around it.

The Clown is right again. If it's old get rid of it. As you use the new line, take off the hook, swivel or what ever is on the end of your line and let the line out as you go back to the dock. Then reel it back in. Obviously, if your not in a boat, it won't work. It helps keep the twist out of my poly or mono lines. I do this every time I use those rods.

You can also put some of kevin van dams line stuff on it and wait about a hour then go outside and hook your line to a branch in a tree and walk back ( or run if you 300yds) and about every 50 yards lock the spool and then stretch it by pulling it til your drag pulls off do that a few times about every 50 yards until you have 150yds or more off..

it stretches the line and will remove a lot of memory. I do that about once a month with all my lines regardless if they are mono or fluorocarbon.

Just a thought if you are strapped for cash like I am. I try to keep my line as long as I can. I am very poor since and old divorce took most of my life earnings.

Or you could use braided line, with a leader. I normally dont use a leader but many people do.
