Got a call this afternoon from Ben that his to be partner Polo had backed out on him and wanted to know if I would like to tag along. emoDance I knew I could not fill Polo's shoes but I was better then nothing. Ben and his boy had planned to do the Tuesday night dog fight but Ben had gone early to look for a few and to check out the water. The bass are still going shallow and they were all over the place doing what they were doing yesterday evening when I was out. The moon of April is a prime time for the spawn on the Chick and with the water like it has been the bass are moving shallow in full force. We only got to fish a couple hours but we had a great time doing it. I did not track the total numbers but I do know we caught seven nice keepers. Nothing that big but a couple three pounders. Our best five would have been around 12.5 pound. emoThumbsup No records but for the middle of the day with the sun full I was happy with the results. Most were on some form of plastic with a couple on traps. I also had one nice crappie hit the trap and one pretty big gar also took a spook. emoRolleyes

The high light of our day was when Ben took me to a secret spot. It was back off the lake over some real shallow stuff. He told me of all the fives and sevens we would catch in there. emoTongue I did not know he was talking ounces. emoZipped Then on the way back out he drove right up on top of a sand bar and got us stuck. He had to jump off the boat and push us back into water deep enough to use the trolling motor on. You might want to wear a bathing suit if you go with old Ben, you may have to go swimming. emoPoke

Looking forward to the CFF tournament this weekend. emoThumbsup Jmax
