I was just wondering if anyone has caught any small mouth or walley at oneida yet. Of course its still cold, but i did hear that small mouth will sometimes be more active in water temp from 48-54 degrees. Can anyone lift my spirits.

I've actually been wondering the same thing. For some reason I don't usually get up to Oneida until closer to Memorial Day, but this year I've set looking for early prespawn smallies as one of my priorities.

Oh man I can't freakin wait to get to Oneida. If the bigger ones made it through the winter this year we should have some fatty bronzebacks swimming around!

The largemouth in the area were looking rather obese last fall too. I just might have to skip class on Monday and do a little bass hunting.

I know how ya feel. Mantua should be turning on any day now, it's driving me nuts!

Um, uh - have you looked outside today! Holy carp batman! It's winter all over again - better break out the ice poles and sled!
Good grief - someone get Mama Nature her meds! I'm talking mother needs her little helper!
And here I was working up finding spring kitties, then this. Cutler's warming pretty good though.
Might have to chase more browns on the river. Poked around the Logan yesterday and got into a few. No pigs, but aggressive hits, good tugs.
Damn that river is swollen. Not like last spring, but still - all kinds of flooded out by the golf course.
I've never fished Oneida, but it'll be on the bucket list this year. Bit farther than Preston, but sounds like it's worth the trip.
I caught quite a few bass last year in the snow, hell it's actually pretty good, nothing like having the whole lake to yourself. I'm hoping that the water level in the marsh comes up soon I'm sick of casting and having my weight stick in the mud.

She's definitely in a nutty mood this time of year. It's supposed to be back into the 70s by Sunday. I'm thinking next week I'm going to take the tube out for the first time. If I can't entice any bass I'll break out the fly rod and some sinking line and look for rainbows.

Yes eye's are being caught out of Oneida already. Dunno bout bass haven't hooked one yet this yr fishing for the eyes.

you can catch the smallies up to the point when the eyes start then they seem to turn off for some reason.. then they hit with vengence!!! give it a month and then they will be heading upstream spawning... and please get rid of them they are hurting the eye's spawn hatch!!!

I think that the people harvesting the big females are causing more trouble than the smallies are.
