My wife and I are planning on braving the weather and hitting diamond fork tomorrow. I've never fished there before, but I've been up there several times with the scouts. Both times were in the middle of the winter where we parked at the locked gate and hiked in. But my wife isn't up for much hiking. Does anyone know if the first gate is open and how high up we can get? I'm hoping to get up there quite early tomorrow before the spring-breakers start filling in everywhere.

Last I heard you could get up to Three Forks...but I personally haven't been up there in a while. Good luck!!! There's some nice fish in there if you can convince them to play[Wink]

A couple weeks ago it was still only open to 3 Forks. I want to try to go down in the next 2-4 days. If no one post a recent update I'd appreciate it if you post on what you find out. Central Utah Water Project trucks have been able to drive up for weeks but they have the keys.

If I can get up to Three forks, I'll be happy. I don't have the keys, but I have a set of bolt-cutters. Does that count? [Image: confused.gif] I grew up fishing a stream that was a lot like DF, but somewhat smaller. Some of the best catches I had there were in the middle of the winter during snow storms when everyone thought I was insane for going fishing.

Should have known you be in there already. Catching anything of size down low? Haven't ran into a single mountain lion yet this year. Dog did find some tracks and scat from the wolf pack DWR can't seem to track down from inside their truck[:|]. Let me know if you want to meet up some time. Once the big fish do show up in April I try to get down there once or twice a week for the next month. Here's a pic of a the track which measured a little more than 4 by 3 inches -- don't blame the lions from being unusually scarce in the neighborhood this spring.

Nothing notable for me yet up in that neighborhood, although fishing has been good. Yes, let's get together soon. I'm always willing and usually able. That track you came across is rather frightening. It makes me rethink a loooong solo trek I made last Friday. I think I need a sidearm. Or some wolf spray! Haha.

LOL, Good one. Remember though, they may be wolf-dog hybrids (not). Excellent pic.

I was up there earlier in the week (lower). Water was a bit more off color than usual, fishing was slightly slow but did get a couple decent ones.

Well, so much for that idea. We've got about 6" of snow here. Highway 6 is basically closed. If my truck was working (transmission spread through the garage as I'm rebuilding it), maybe I could make it, but not in the van.

I'll probably hit Salem pond since I doubt anyone else will be there.
