I felt like trying something new today so I headed up to the Big Lost R. to try for some rainbows. They still hadn't released water from the dam so the flow was very low and clear. The fish were really spooky and it took some stealth to catch them. My son and I ended up landing a dozen. We had many hook, jump, and releases. I was very impressed by the acrobatic ability of those fish.
I didn't take any pics because I was messing around with my go pro. I will post a video when I get it made. I am still experimenting with different things and just can't multitask very well.
There were no hatches today at all. We caught all of our fish on small pheasant tail & prince nymphs. The fish averaged 13-14 inches. Our biggest was 15-16 and we had at least three 20inchers go air born and break us off.
It was a great day to be out flyfishing with my oldest son.
