Went to Strike today and fished from shore for about four hours. I went to Cottonwood first to see if the crappie were in yet with the warm weather we've been having. Caught a small perch and a crappie about 6" long. I saw a few other people get some about the same size.

After I left Cottonwood, I fished off the bridge for an hour or so and caught a dinky trout. Then I moved to the area near the generators for the final hour of daylight and hooked and lost another trout I would guess was around 14".

They are letting water out through the spillway gates again this year. The walkway on top of the dam is closed and will remain closed through the end of June. I'm not sure why. Last year I can understand since we had all that rain and the huge snow pack. This winter it barely rained at all, and I haven't heard of heavy snows in the mountains.

Still too early for shallow water crappie and bass, I think. They should be moving in by the end of the month, provided the weather doesn't get all cold. Even though it was slow, I'm glad I got a chance to get out and test the jigs I made.

Thanks for the report. I'll probably wait another week or two.

Did you get any water temps?

Thanks. Nice to get some information on crappie..

No water temps I'm afraid. I don't have a thermometer.

I did hear people were still catching them out in the Narrows in 30 feet of water. I guess the fish are still staging up waiting for the water temps to rise.

When you go out, bring your bug repellant. The mosquitos are already out. I swatted about half a dozen duing the last hour or so. Probably part of the reason I didn't land the last trout, since I was too busy watching for bugs rather than watching my bobber and missed it going under for a few seconds.

We started by the grandview boatlaunch, but moved up by the dam around 6:30. We caught 4 nice fat trout. Tried for sturgeon at the hole by the bridge, nothing. We motored down to another hole and got 2. Measured 1 at 6'4" and the other one was small, not over 3 ft.

A little windy there around 7, but it was dead calm by 9 or so.

I might have seen you when I was fishing off the bridge. Were you the guys in the sled fishing downstream from the bridge about an hour before dark?

Yeah, that would have been us on Fishin4days boat. The hole we were anchored in is typically good, but we didn't get any out of there. We went downriver and caught them.
