I don't know where you are coming from, but wouldn't it be quicker to go to Farewell bend and then down to the cemetery. It's not far at all from FWB. At least not the cemetery I know of.

I thought that the woodhead ramp was the only one accessible at the moment

You can go to Idaho Power Company site and click on Brownlee for water levels. Brownlee is at 2026 feet which means Woodhead is the only ramp in the water.

I haven't been over there yet this year, in fact, I haven't been anywhere yet this year. Everytime we get a nice day, we have something scheduled for that day. Wife had orthoscopic knee surgery a month ago and she is doing great but still alot of Doc Appts.

Hmmmm, that changes things a bit. Got a float tube or a pontoon boat?

Damn, BassnBob, I feel your pain. I am as itchy as you to drown a worm. But, like your wife, Kali had hip surgery recently, and as soon as she heeled up I developed an abscess on my foot that resulted in surgery a month ago. As soon as that healed up, I got hit by a massive kidney stone. Had surgery yesterday, and in the middle of the surgery the laser broke, so they patched me up, sent me to recovery and told me we would have to start all over when it got fixed!! (Bad spring for moderators, huh?!) So, you and I will need to go fishing together in a few weeks and we can take turns casting and sobbing on each other's shoulder! Mike

for years and years, i launched at what we called "Morgan Creek" in high water, low water..any water. i think it is exactly 19 miles from the huntington turn off at the interstate. just about 5 min boat ride to the cemetary. Maybe it isn't accesable anymore? no dock or anything, just a little place to launch. or a few hundred more yards is the "Grove". we launched there for years as well during low water.

Are these places still active launch spots? Sorry, live in Utah and only make Brownlee once a year now. and we go to Woodhead.

I think that morgan creek one is. I know when I am over there catfishing I see a sharp cove where guys launch. Ron

I read on the Oregon board that a F&G warden boated from Farewell Bend to Richland last week and did not find anyone who had caught a fish.

I also noted that Idaho Power says that even the Woodhead ramp might be out of water by the middle of the month.

We really could cry on each other's shoulders. I've had a touch of the flu the last two days. Will it ever end??? [:/]

Praying for a fast recovery for you and your wife.

We were there on the 10th and the only safe bet for launching is at Woodhead. We originally headed for Morgan Crk which is the little cove a mile up from Fishcamp / Cemetery. I could have launched my boat there with no problems but my buddies boat was iffy, specially with his bald tires on his truck. We watched a couple of other rigs launch with no problems. But while watching them the res dropped another foot or so. Never seen it that low. Anyway we drove around to Woodhead and along the way seen maybe 20 Bighorns. Watched 5 rams but heads for over an hour at 200 yrds - cool stuff. Crappie are suspended at 32 -34 ft in 50 - 70 fow but being tight liped. SMB fishing was good and a lot more willing to bit than the crappie.
Talked with a guy at work today that was there the same day at Morgan Crk. He showed me a picture of his boat and rig stuck up to the axles when they tried getting back out at the end of the day. The guy that lives at Morgan Crk had to come down and pull them out with his rig. Sure glad we didn't risk it. His fishing report was the same as ours.
Morgan Creek is a decent launch when FWB or Steck is out of the water. With that being said if you do decide to launch there the north side of the cove is flat and shallow .Where Morgan Creek drains in on the south side it is steep and unlevel. With a bigger boat ,take the time to walk down and make sure that the asians don't have the entire turnaround plugged up with their fishing factories. I have made that mistake a couple of times and had to back my boat all of the way back out to the main road. If you have a smaller boat the launch right at the cemetery isn't bad.Note after the water level hits 2024 in elevation all of the developed launches are out of water.
