Finally got out and got some flies wet this spring. Hit the Owyhee river yesterday. OK, so technically it wasn't on Idaho waters, but the Owyhee river over here is about the only trout river that's fishable right now on our side of the state, and since it does flow through Idaho...... Ok, the morning (as is typical on the Owyhee) was pretty uneventful - one good hit fishing deep, but no fish to be seen from the surface. The afternoon was a little better - caught and released 3 nice browns (pics of 2 of them) and a couple more that got on and accomplished their own release early in the fight. They first one caught answered to a size 16 dark tan scud dropper off of a woolly bugger (nothing hatching at the time). The rest (a very limited hatch with a few risers showing) answered to size 20 biot midge droppers off of size 18 griffiths gnats. Fun stuff for my first spring outing. Flows were at about 243 CFS.

Cloud 9 HUH! Cool shots!

Nice browns! The Owyhee probably has 2 Idaho fishermen on it for every 1 Oregon, so I am sure lots of people are enjoying the chance to see some browns from there.
