Lake Lowell opened to boating today, which also coincides with the first bass tournament. The weather is nice, but 41 degrees out. It's always interesting to hear the blast off for this tournament while eating breakfast. The roar of racing engines started at 6:55 and lasted for 15 minutes. It is now 7:40 and dead silent. The lake is quite a bit lower than average for this date, but there is plenty of brush in the water.

I think I'll wait until evening to launch my first LL excursion, or let it go until tomorrow.

My wife & I are gonna go out there this afternoon after church. I want to test out my new trolling motor and the new stainless Cobra stabilizer plate I attached to the outboard last night. I was having probvlems getting of plane with a full gas tank, two pepople and full livewells. I think I we will fish back in the trees and see if we can find any willing fish!

Anyone ever fish the Bbb open? I think I want to next year I just dont know if its fun with all the people who are overly competitive. Don't get me wrong I would like to win but I want to have a good time trying to win more.

I have never been to a tournament out there. How many boats are typically entered?

They added a new gangway to one of the docks on the west end of the upper dam, for wheelchair access. I am going to run out there this evening and check it out.

I just counted 60-70 trailers at the Caldwell dam most will be in the tourney. It looks choppy anyone have the water temp?

I've fished it a few times with my son before he moved to Phoenix. It is fun but also frustrating with so many other fisherman. The lake is on the small side for that many participants.

I prefered our club tourney with only 10 or so boats.

BTW here is an osprey nest cam on Lake Lowell. I like to check out the conditions on the lake before I go plus see the Ospreys.

I wade fished for 1-1/2 hours in the evening after most people went home. It was better than I expected. I had 7 hits. 2 were probably dinks, I landed 3, and lost 2. Three were on a Chatterbait and the remainder on a swimming Senko. I didn't take a thermometer, but as I stated at the start of this thread the water is quite a bit lower than last year. The area I was fishing last year is dry ground now. The lake is 77% full. Last year it was 90% at this time.

I should have known the Osprey Cam would be dark at 1am, but that should be an awesome resource. Hopefully I can make it out and try my luck at some bass (or even some large carp to use as crawdad bait).

Thanks for the info.

Water temps were between 50 & 53 deg. Still pretty cold.

After we got on the water at about 1:00 it got pretty choppy with lot's of white caps. We fished for about a half an hour and had a trolling motor malfunction. I put on a new motorguide 75 lb thrust this winter and the mounts came loose. Had to go back in before I lost the darn thing!

The new Cobra Stabilizing Plate worked like a charm!

Just a fun fact, my son, Jason, fished the Lucas Oil Open Team event at Lake Pleasant in AZ this weekend. They had 30 MPH winds, rain and hail on and off during the day. First day they were in 3rd, a pound and a quarter out of first mostly using a chatterbait. They weighed in 13.75 lbs.

Yesterday they had calm weather with some wind on and off. Chatterbait wasn't working so they started drop-shotting bed fish with a white tube. Finally got their limit and was able to cull a 13" er. They weighed in 10.25 lbs with a two day total of 24 lbs. They were in 1st with only a few boats left to weigh. The first day leader with 15 lbs from the first day came in and weighed in 13 lbs for a total of 28 lbs. That was enough to win the Ranger bass boat. Jason and his partner won $4100 for 2nd place and a beautiful Lucas Oil trophy. Not a bad payday for having fun.

Has anyone heard, or have a link, about the results of the tournament?

I've checked all the sites and can't find anything yet.

Results are now up at the boise bass busters web site.

My computer doesn't like the format that BBB is using and all I get is gibberish, so if someone can make any sense out of it maybe post the winner and weight plus big fish weight. Thanks!

here you go!!!! click the link just like its a pic.

If that doesnt work Tony Ramirez and Scott Lepka won with a weight of 15.4 and the big fish was caught by Eddie Garcia and Travis Jarvis and it was 3.96. hope that helps.

It still comes up "This file is not in a recognizable format" if you still want to see it hit OK and when I do it comes up gibberish, actually in code form.

OK, that works, Thanks!!
