Not there, we were at Blkft which is similar in elevation sat and it was stilled iced over with about 50 feet of open around the shore. I'm sure some one was up that way over the weekend and will chime in

The ice is gone. There were boats on it Saturday. We fished from the bank for a couple of hours and enjoyed the fresh air.

I've never been to Chesterfield, but have heard a lot about it. A few buddies and I are planning a day to take our tubes out and see who can catch the biggest and most fish. Any pointers from anyone as far as where is the best fishing and what to use would be great. Also any other info would be good as well. Thanks and happy fishing.

Some guys I work with went up there and said it was so and so. And they know what the're doing. Might be a few weeks before it picks up again. The ice off window has closed.

I was wondering if anyone fishes the Native American side. I would bet there might be some big ones.

Where the river comes into the lake as far as I know is owned by the Native Americans and is off limits. You can see the markers where public portion ends. I'm sure that it's not patrolled and I have seen people try to get their boats up there, but again it's the letter of the law.
I have fished, not quite up to that point, and there are parts that are extremely shallow. It's like most sections in Chesterfield; one day it will be good and then another day it seems like you don't even get a hit.
Another problem is access. Unless you have a boat or a motor it's a long kick because the only real public access is across the whole upper section.
I echo what flygoddess said; it seems each time I go up there more and more people are on the lake.
Anyway, good luck with your fishing.

Like some of the other posts, it does seem Chesterfield is becoming more and more crowded every year. It still holds some wonderful fishing.

And as long as there are people posting about it, it'll get more crowded and eventually the fishing will start to suffer. It's the internet. We're just going to have to get use to it.
