What a great day. Weather was wonderful except the wind blew way more then we wanted. :o Derek and I got out this morning for a little morning outing. Thought we would look around for some CBA pre fish bass. We found some. The bass are in full spawn. I really think most of our bass....I'd say 90% were spawners. All of them were caught on plastics and fished very slow. We tried top water, traps and cranks with no luck. All we could get them to bite was plastics. We put 31 bass in the boat between 7 this morning and 2 this afternoon. emoThumbsup Down side today was we could have done even better. I should have retied...had one a good three break off by the boat on a dive. emoAngry Derek made the comment he should retie too but didn't... you know it....he had one break off and then jump trying to throw his worm that looked about 3 to 3.5 pounds. It grew as the day went on and by the time we left I think it weighed 12 pounds. emoLaugh He broke off another on the hook set as well. We lost a couple more and missed a truck load. If you do the math that is a bass about every 15 minutes. emoDance We had one hit, lost or caught about every ten minutes. emoWorthy The lake for us was on fire this morning. We tracked our best bass and when we left I think we had 17 pounds and 5 ounces with our best five. I believe they were 4/7, 3/13, 3/7, 2/14 and 2/12. The 2/12 was a nice spot. Might of had big spot if we had been in a tournament. emoBig The next best two were 2/8 each. Not a bad morning to be culling two and a half pounders.

We hit five places and caught bass in all five. The common thing was the spawn and we looked for staging areas and spawning flats by deeper water. Several of the females had bloody tails and many looked to be fanning. emoThumbsup The lake is up about another foot since the CFF and they should really be about to take off. emoToast

Derek has a picture of the 4 pounder he said he would post. We would have stayed longer but he had a cook out he had to be at. We left fish hitting. Really a great seven hours.

C-ya on the water, Jmax emoAngler
