[cool] Hey there eyefinder11,
Welcome to BFT. There is a board for Wisconsin if you would like to check it out. You may find more info for walleyes at the Michigan and Utah boards as well. I live in SoCal so we don't have walleyes here. But there are plenty of experienced and informative anglers throughout this whole BFT site. Have a good one.

You asked about catching walleye.
I slay walleye every year in NY with Bucktail Jigs. You can't beat them. Black and purple work best and of course you have to know how deep of water their in and fish the bottom 10 to 20 mostly. Make sure you know your Jig is on the bottom and start jigging. drifting with the wind and jigging is key. I use mostly 1/8oz but if it is really windy 1/4 works well, you have to know you are at the bottom most of the time and you WILL catch Walleye. A little peck of worm threaded on the hook w/ a little hanging back is important too.
I have caught hundreds of Walleye over the years.
Good Luck and remember fishing isn't always about catching fish It is just being out there. If it wern't for bad days there wouldn't be any good days Jigging near the bottom you will catch fish though.

tubeN2: I thought this might interest you. At some time between 1958 and 1963(approx) They stocked Puddingstone Reservoir with a bunch of walleye. We of the fishing community were really excited. But do you know what? Of all the fish stocked I never heard of one, single fish being caught. They flat disappeared. They also stocked some brown trout in that period which all bellied up before any were caught. The stocking techniques have really improved since and I would like to see a walleye in the program. Apparently they aren't as prolific as some of their pike cousins. They can't be as bad as striped bass.

sounds like you got them eyes down pat,[shocked]
welcome to Bigfishtackle.[cool]
if you havent as yet scroll on down to the NY board, we have our resident pro on that board that I am sure you guys will hit it off sharing eye tactics. cant never have enough fishing pro's on the team[sly]
I fish for the eyes up river form you, way up river that is. like the beginning of the detroit river.
I hooked up the last time I was there. using a simmilar techneque, comming up just off the botom. using a slip sinker drifting one of my favorite mepps spinners behind it. holding up about 3-5 feet above bottom drifting with the curent and hopfuly have the wind in our faceses as we drift backwards down river....
it is amazing how proven tactics remain the same even hundreds of miles apart.
