This is Ted's second conviction for poaching.
His first was in California for shooting an undersized deer over bait, filming it and broadcasting it.
He now cannot big game hunt in any of the 35 or so states that are part of the anti poaching agreement. That's why Ted was in Alaska, he's only allowed to hunt in a few states.

I didn't know that. Makes me wonder who many times he got away with poaching when cameras weren't going.

Like finding out that the "Lone Ranger" is light in the loafers.
Ted is a poacher, he has poacher mentality, once you have it, it never goes away. Like the statements he made after sentencing, typical poacher statements, all bravado and no remorse.

As most stories, it has two sides. I'd like to hear Ted's side of things. I heard his side of the CA deer incident (not poaching, but illegal baiting) and it made perfect sense to me in a state that has little sense at all. This may be different, but in all the years I have bow hunted, I've only wounded one deer that I did not recover. I tried for days to recover that deer and I was sick to my stomach. Did I shoot another deer that year? I did. Does that make me a poacher in the state where I shot that deer? No. But that state might not have the same law that AK does. If thats the case, I see it as an honest mistake. Did Ted fess up to this? Yes. Did he pay up? Yes. Did he deny anything? No. That my friends is not a poacher mentality if you ask me.
Lets hear the "rest of the story" before jumping to any conclusions.

Doing a little reading from links posted about his most recent poaching I guess he has bigger issues than the serial poaching
http://www.examiner.com/article/romney-s...-own-words
Turns out he was a first rate draft dodger and serial pedophile to boot.
I'd say strike 3 and you're out . What a hypocrite and a waste of flesh.
I'd consider any illegal method of hunting or fishing poaching. Meriam Webster definition 2a ; to take (game or fish) by illegal methods
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/poach
defines it exactly how I use the term know matter who's doing it.

Yep.
Now we are finding out who on this site supports poaching, or at least considers it an "Honest Mistake".
The CA incident also included shooting an undersized deer, a 4 point in a management area that was designated as "trophy", for which the 4 point did not qualify. On camera, then broadcast it.
That was his first conviction for poaching, this incident in Alaska is his second. He was hunting in Alaska because most every state in the lower 48 bans him from hunting or fishing in their state because of his convictions in anti poaching co-operative state.
Let me tell you a little more about Teds "poacher mentality". He's a draft dodger, he used meth, he is a pediphile and he is a deadbeat dad who does not support his children.
Honest mistakes? All of them?

Well said.
If the guy is a true pedophile then fry him. If he's a true draft dodger then deport him or let him become a democrat where that kind of thing is accepted. It will be interesting to watch this unfold. I find it hard to believe the liberal media wouldn't have been all over this if it were accurate.

So the story comes from the " Baltimore Liberal Examiner" that should be the first clue as to the integrity of the story.
The draft doger story came from " High Times" magazine interview.
The pedophile story? Again from the BLE and seriously, read some of this guys other "informative" stories. I've never heard about the pedophile story before, but as mentioned before, there's two sides to every story.
If Nuge is guilty of poaching, he should pay the price. And next time, read the states hunting proclamations.

Spin magazine also lists the sleazy way he got control of a 17 y.o when she wasn't legal age to marry , it's their #63 sleaziest music moments http://books.google.com/books?id=HTMuhxa...&q&f=false
Have trouble believing everyone is willing to risk libel by listing his criminal sexual actions even if he wasn't prosecuted. And are you really claiming the interview of his extreme efforts to dodge the draft are fabricated? I find that hard to believe. If it wasn't from a real interview even a repetitive poacher would have an easy time suing for libel. The copies of his deferment do include a medical deferrment that otherwise has no explanation. As a whole the information paints a picture of the substance of Mr. Nugent. Don't get me wrong the guy did have like 2 good hits but like a lot of celebrities appears to be a hypocritical cowardly loser otherwise. I assume companies like Sportsman Wharehouse aren't paying him to appear anymore. Hopefully Outdoor Channel will have the good sense to drop Ted and anyone else that turns out to be a poacher. I doubt the he's too bright to begin with but hunt proclamations are written at 5th grade level for a reason. If he still doesn't get it, he's rich enough to hire an attorney to read it for him and explain it to him.
OK now that I think about Nugent, I admit I'm wrong about one thing. He only has one hit- Cat Scratch Fever and the rest of his music wasn't worth a damn.

You can spin it like you want Riverdog, but again, I look at the source.
The Baltimore Liberal Examiner and Riverdog. Top notch reporting. Half the story is good enough. Maybe you can get Geraldo in on the facts also.

Sure and all the other 99 sleaziest moments in rock were also right wing extremist. Oh no I looked and that wasn't the case at all. So I guess it wasn't part of a liberal witch hunt after all. Look I'm going to knock a poacher no matter his political views because his political views have little to do with it. I was surprised about the poaching story frankly because he is a well known and experienced hunter. I'm surprised a few would cut a repetitive poacher a break because he's a celebrity, political views or any other reason. I think most hunters have more integrity than that still. Not sure why you decided to personally attack me as a source. No one in this discussion personally attacked anyone else posting their views even if we didn't see things the same. I don't take it personally that you don't have a more rational response. I'd suggest you delete it not because of what it says of me but what you're saying about yourself. Regardless when responses get to the level of personal attacks
it's probable time to let the post end.

Now here's the story right out of Ak. The MSN story only mentions in one sentence, why it was poaching.
I've never hunted bear in Alaska, and myself, I would read all the rules. But if what happened is the truth, isn't it possible that it could be a total fluke, that it was caught because it was filmed?
And as for personal attacks? Come on man, get a grip. I didn't attack you in any way shape or form. But if you think I did, I apologize. But read the story from Alaska. Could it have happened to any of us and we'd have gotten away with it because nothing would have been filmed?
He admitted he poached ( because of the newer law) and will pay the price.
There's just too much slant and partial truths in the media today. That's why I did a little more digging.
Ted poached, he got caught,it'll be expensive even for him. He just made the headlines because of celebrity status.

Yes I did read that before. I think we just see things differently. I see a law on the books for almost 5 years and Nugent claiming the Southeast Alaska has some crazy rules as an excuse. Just like someone blamed California earlier as being messed up so who can blame Nugent. I see such entrapment arguments as lame. No one forced Ted to hunt anywhere. He could hunt where he likes at least up until his first 3 violations in California. I certainly look at regulations and decide not to go to certain places because of them. I don't go violate the rules I don't like and blame the State later. I fished Southeast Alaska last year and had to release a halibut because it was too big. I guess if I thought like Ted I should have poached it because the rule change was months old and the Southeast Alaska has some crazy ( to me) rules.
