Caught the biggest crappie I have ever seen on a chartreuse and white clouser minnow. Using my floating line and casting right up to the shore with slow strips back to let the fly sink down a couple feet. Also caught largemouth, smallmouth and bluegill fishing this method.
We were fishing in Good Hope Bay north of Bullfrog and there are lots of largemouth and crappie spawning there now. There are also huge gizzard shad spawning in the same areas, it takes some time to recognize the bass and crappie among the shad and carp but there are all mixed together in the shallows among the trees.
Here's a great video showing exactly how I was catching those fish.
