Glad you got into the fish at Strawberry. We use to catch them slow dragging a night crawler the bottom quite a bit as well. It seemed to work when they needed some movement and just sitting wasn't getting it done.

It was years ago. I haven't tried that in long time.

Were you guys using minnows or something else?

I like hearing about different types of tactics.... thanks for sharing.

another way i found to work very well is a crawler about 8 feet below a small casting bubble with no other weight so it sinks very slow and drifting we have gotten into many larger cuts like this the small bubble gets it down far enough that the worm will drag just off the bottom with out get snagged up the big boys love this look ( big chub minnows work well like this also)

On the Strawberry side the chance of catching a slot cutt is quite high. When slow-drifted, those cutts swallow nightcrawlers so deeply that I have virtually stopped fishing that way. Don't get me wrong, it works - and it's totally, completely ethical, but after cutting the line so many times and watching bleeders swim away, I've almost gone exclusively to artificials or a jig tipped with bait.

i dont use this method any more either but it is very effective

A circle hook will help to elliminate the deep hooking of fish caught on bait............The circle hook will catch them in the corner of the mouth almost every time.
