I am but I don't fish Utah lake, I'm a little paranoid about the fish consumption advisory. (I know lots of people don't worry about it, and have eaten UL fish for years with no problems, but I'm a worrywart I guess!)

I'm thinking about AF canyon, maybe.

HAHA i have ate them my whole life ha... dont really keep anything anymore though... i only keep rainbows since there are way to many of them ha.(rainbows not on utah lake)

Yep, we keep rainbows and browns here, for the same reasons. There are LOTS and the fish get stunted because there are too many. It makes me wonder why on the Provo so many people look at you like you're an evil fish-killing demon [mad] when you keep a couple, and there are signs all over asking people to keep them because it helps the fishery.

Have a fun fishing trip. [Smile]

ive noticed that certain fish get affected by UL taste wise. WB, perch and gills are good aswell as crappie, but ive also caught crappie that tasted pretty gross out of the hotspring but i also have eaten alot of eyes that are just delicious out of there too, also i eat WB out of the jordan like once a week and they are great.

Crappie flavor and texture is highly water temp dependent. The colder the better. That's why the ones from the hot spring taste so bad. I once took a bite of crappie caught in a side canyon of Lake Powell with 87 degree water. Worse fish I've ever had. Dogs didn't seem to mind it too much.

its too bad cause if they were good id be going after them more

I have yet to bump into anyone that would have a problem with people keeping fish out of the Provo and I am there a lot. Pretty much everyone knows you need to keep some. The problem I do have is worm containers and power bait jars in the artificial areas, but such is life.

Trout are more likely to have Mercury poisoning than most other fish. The mining goes on in them there pristine hills that people love to fish, so nowhere is perfect.
It all boils down to moderation, that is all.

Jazz, it is all fish. They are what they eat. I have caught trout that are to die for, but I have also caught trout in mossy waters and that is what they taste like.

I am not sure I could eat anything that came out of the Jordan river for this reason.[Tongue]

Funny how far people will go. My friend refuses to eat fish out of Strawberry because of the bodies.

thats kinda how i feel about catfish in the jordan, they taste like pond scum yuck[crazy]. but everything else ive eatin out of there is good. i was real scepticle about eating fish out of there till my dad cooked up some WB and eyes out of there . he told me after i ate them and now i eat the good eating fish out of there. but your right about where the fish lives and what it eats will give the fish different tastes and textures

I'm there with you on the angler litter anywhere, it royally cheeses me off when people "crap in their own water" so to speak...but especially bait in no-bait areas.

I don't fish in the mercury contaminated waters either, I have the Utah fish consumption advisory map printed out (blown up, so I can read it!) and the website saved. [Smile] We eat a lot of fish, so I'm careful rather than using moderation [cool]

You don't find Catch And Release Nazis on the Provo? Wow. Maybe we're just more conspicuous 'cuz we're not fly rodders, we use spinning rods to throw lures, jigs, and flies in the "artificial only" areas.

Sadly, I would think you are getting attitude more for the style as to keeping the fish.
Some are very protective is all. They see spinning gear and panic a little. I have even come across spin fishers and have no problem tillI see them using rubber, scented tubes or whatever. I do not make a fedral case, but this is not a new law.
So if I get uncomfortable with this, I am sure there are those that will take it a little further.

I do appologize for the brothers and sisters out there, but we have been tested. Keep on doing what you do girl. You are doing a good thing. You are however, getting the fall out of those that choose not to respect.
I would love to fish with you any time.

:::wince::: That's too bad it's more likely the style. Oh well, though. Thanks for the kind words, and it would sure be fun to fish with you. I know next to nothing about fly fishing...just wet flies go under and dry flies stay on top, and that's about it--just the obvious [Wink] It would be fun to learn from a goddess of the sport [cool]

I will share anytime, but I just meant just sharing some water. You do just fine with how you roll.

Cool, thanks, sounds fun!
