Need some information on this place and if it actually exists. From doing lots of Google searches it this is what I've found.

25.6 miles from Dugway
contains walleye, channel catfish and white bass.

Thanks

Looks a little suspicious to me. The satellite image shows a very small depression that MAY hold water sometimes. If'n ya go, I'd recommend you take some flies that look like carrots. I'm guessin' the rabbits might be the only thing you'll find.

I don't know where anyone got the information that there are White Bass, Walleye, or Channel Catfish in it.

The only water hole close to Dugway I am aware of is Horseshoe springs which is Noth of Dugway. There are some largemouth in there but not sure what else.

I spent several hours driving around today looking for this reservoir. According to the map its close to simpsons spring right off of the pony express trail. I'm 99% sure its just a small pond that is a couple of feet deep then disappears in late spring. Then I decided to cruise over to Dugway and fish Rainbow Reservoir. I couldn't find that reservoir and I didn't want to ask the guard shack because my buddy has a concealed licensed fire arm. They tend to freak out about citizens bringing firearms close to military bases. So we cruised over to Horse Shoe Springs. I've fished this lake a few times before and seen some nice bass come out of it. As usual you could see the carp schooling around the lake but they didn't want to go on a fishing line ride. Had a couple of bass follow our lures around but no luck. Here are a couple of pics I took.

Didja ketch any rabbits? I'm guessin' that the pond you found was the one that shows on the satellite image, but doesn't even show on the google map. How big was it? 200 feet long? 100 feet wide? Did you catch a wild goose? I gotta give you credit for being willing to go the extra 100 miles to look for an out of the way catfish hole.

Was this what got you started on your adventure?

There is no standing, permanent water of any appreciable size in or around Dugway Proving Ground.
There is a small spring at Simpson Springs, a little larger than a pickup truck. Livestock use it for watering. There are no fish in it.
Fish Springs, about 40 miles west of Simpson Springs, has some large ponds and what might be considered small lakes, about nine in all, and they have native Chub in them. However, these bodies of water are on Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge and fishing is prohibited, to protect the native fish.
I've explored the desert around Dugway for years. There are no lakes or ponds supporting fish between these two points, and I know of no springs. When the Pony Express ran through this area, they had to obtain water for their stations from either Simpson Springs or Fish Springs. This required carrying water dozens of miles.
What you or someone else saw was likely the standing water that accumulates on desert flats in late winter and early spring, from rain and snow. It can get up to about 18 inches deep, looking substantial from a distance, but it doesn't stay long and it doesn't support fish.
Some of these springs have tadpoles in early spring, the progeny of desert toads.Their hatch lasts a few weeks.
Horseshoe Springs has bass in it. I've tried to catch them for years but they are very, very wary. There are also large carp in the spring. The carp are beneficial, keeping the small ponds clean. Leave them be. I've heard tales of large bass caught in the spring, but it's always, "I know a guy whose sister's brother's cousin ..."
It's a long drive to get skunked and eaten by mosquitoes. The last gas station is at the Tooele turnoff from I-80, Exit 99. The turnoff to Horseshoe Springs is at Exit 77. There are no gas stations or even a porta-pottie down the entire 37 mile length of Skull Valley. Make sure you have plenty of water, gas, snacks and a Luggable Loo (a toilet seat that snaps onto a 5-gallon bucket).
Dugway Proving Ground will not let you enter for gas, not even if you have a retired or active service military ID. It's a closed post, and you need a sponsor to come on.
The desert is a great place to visit but offers no fishing opportunities.
When I first came here, people joked about fishing for Sage Perch and Sand Bass, and offered to sell me a license for $50.
I didn't bite ... just like the fish at "Lake Dugway."
