It's easy... as long as you stick to wooly buggers and caddis!

I've been tying for almost 10 years and I still blow chunks when tying most dry flies. Most nymphs too. Ugh, now that I think about it, I'm really only good at WB's and caddis. Piss.

Oh great just what I needed to hear [Wink], Guess Ill have my work cut out for me then [bobscared]

It's definitely frustrating at first. But you'll get better and better the more you practice. Good thing about flies, fish don't really care how they look!

Nice !!! Tying flies gets easier over time its best to google fly patterns or recipes and get the step by step tutorials. Once you've got that down you'll start to memorize materials and you'll be able to look at a picture and tie just from the picture.

Remember fly tying is a art so you can get creative with the materials and use then as you see best fit

heres are some link if you dont already have them:

Youtube! I wish that it'd been around when I started tying. It makes so much more sense to me to see someone do it, rather than follow still photo instructions.

Tie often.

I'm usually busy at work, but I set my stuff up anyway, so when I have a minute, I can whip a couple flies out for the week off.

So I got a couple tied, they came out ok I think, made a couple mistakes but they should still work heres a couple pics[shocked]

First off, Go Pro are cool as heck cameras, but that fish eye makes me feel like I had too much to drink...LOL and the Macro is not great.
From what I can tell, the buggers appear on track and I would take a half dozen of that chironomid!
I can not tell from the photos, but on the marabou tails, peel the fibers off the side of the feather rather than adding whole feather with center vein. Again, I can't tell, just a suggestion.
Looking really good and I have a lot of material I can help you out with.

I agree with this, but if I'm tying buggers for Bass or for Cutts up at the Berry, I try to find a feather with a stiff vein. I'll put two together, but back to back. I've found that it gives much needed bulk and length without adding a bunch of material. It doesn't seem to affect the action of the marabou. Look at bass poppers and how they do the back to back of the feathers on the back -- that's pretty much what I do.

You want length, use a different feather, not Marabou. Use Schlappin.
You can use and tie whatever you want, no set rules and you will catch fish, I am just passing on what the GREAT Tiers have passed on to me. "LESS IS MORE" You don't want a big clump of marabou for a tail.
Use Saddle hackle, schlappin, or raddit.
Most Bass Poppers are Saddle hackle, or synthetic though. Note, Marabou is used but as I explained:
