Went back up to the High Uinitas this afternoon. Cold night had refroze the soft water but it was opening back up in several places while up there. I used a shovel to help the first spot along a bit. After losing a descent size brook trout I was surprised the first fish I landed was a foot long splake. The rest ended up being all standard High Uinitas 6 - 12 inch brookies. Fishing was a slow only catching about 8-10 fish in almost 3 hours. Only 3 small areas of open water by the time I left so I was quite limited to where I could fish. Incredibly peaceful day up there. I had a hard time leaving for family commitments. Snow is melting down real fast compared to just 5 days ago. Wouldn't be surprised if multiple lakes have open water in the next week or 2.

very nice, can't wait to get up there!

did you notice how bad the provo was raging on your way up?

The Provo was high but it's fishable in a few spots. I think runoff will probable be over up there in a couple weeks.

Curious. where did you catch splake?

Did you get a photo of the splake? All I see are brookies, even the first photo.

Glad you got up to the high country though. It's looking good!
