I headed for the Nell at 5:30 this morning, no wind and looking to be a nice sunny day..

The temps was 51 at home and 38 at the lake, then it went down hill from that point...

A few days ago I helped the UVU fisherman at there tournament and sense I was not fishing I took most of my rods and tackle out of my boat to make room for the two fisherman...

And yes I forgot to put them back in the boat..[frown][:p][mad][:/][unimpressed][pirate]
I looked all over my boat and found two poles and ONE jerk bait and one drop shot hook and two grubs and two gulp minnows in a bag that who knows how long they have been there..Yes they was all but leather!!

I started to try and fish sense I was there any way [pirate] I tried the Jerk bait for about a half hour with no luck wile the gulp was soaking, maybe my 5 cast or so I hooked my first fish just a brown about 24" (did not bring it in the boat) then about a 100 yards down the bank I got another a little bigger and a bass about 14"..

Then I seen the DWR gill nets I look at them in the water and could see some chubs in it..

The DWR showed up about ten min. later and I watched them pull the nets.. They had 8 nets out over the lake and two boats pulling them..

From what I was told and seen there was only 5 bass and a few rainbows and a few browns..Most was chubs all looked to be 10" or bigger with very few perch, I only seen two in 4 of the nets..

I was told that the DWR has cut back on the planting of trout in Jordanelle by about 2/3 in the last two years...

The bass numbers was way down as well..

I took a few pictures one is one of the UVU people I fished with the others are the DWR pulling the nets, as you can see one or two is working and all the others are seeing they are doing it right..[Wink]

You need big chubs so they can make more food for the others...
The chubs are what make for big browns and bass..

+1 I agree. Perch may not have moved up yet. I hope so anyway, I don't want the perch to go anywhere.

The perch should be spawning now, but with no grass or brush to hang the egg on they don't hatch..

Do you know why they are not stocking it with trout? Maybe not stocking bass either?

They have not stocked bass for many many years, only trout do they stock..
