I caught to monster perch on a fly. i must say it was actually a pretty memorable moment. my buddy and I are going to try and fish a local river tomorrow or saturday. have to watch out for gators and snakes

yea its a bluegill or brim i think they call them sunperch down here too. i was using some cheap chinese made flies from ebay to practice on i have no idea what kind they are there a dry fly on 12 hook. it was 2 dollars shipped for 1 dozen. i figured i would use the cheap ones to practive on.

Blue gilll are fun to catch on a fly rod. Try a popper with a small nymph like the one in the picture about tied about a foot or so bellow. A dry fly like Elk hair caddis will work also... just about anything you toss out there will get a blue gills attention.

Congrats that looks like the first one I caught on my fly reel, the addicition just gets worse and worse as the fish get bigger and bigger!

i dont have any poppers yet
i guess i have a few more flys to get.i really want to get out to the river down here but looks like my buddy can only go thursday night so we will probably stick to saltwater since its our comfort zone.
