I have the goal of catching walleye at every lake that has them. UL, Willard, Yuba, Starvy, etc. have all been crossed off the list.
Deer Creek has been the problem, for over 10 years!
Yesterday I finally caught my first eye along the bank west of the Island State park. I used a homemade bottom bouncer with my favorite color of Kokanee Creek Tackle worm harness in Bread and Butter. I missed two more smaller hits that were most likely smallies cause they hit quite a bit quicker than eyes.
To finish the day off I trolled the open water and lost a big fish with the Bread and Butter still in his jaw. Most likely the line was frayed from the battle with the eye.
I switched over to the plain white blade from KCT behind a green MAD dodger and promptly caught 3 more extremely fiesty bows with the last fish of the day being a nice brown between 3-4 lbs. The trout were caught at 30-31' down.
All fish except the brown were invited home to dinner. For some reason I just can't kill browns out of a lake, they get a free pass.

Way to go Shane. The Kokanee Creek stuff have been getting a lot of love from the walleye this spring. What's your next adventure? A friend and I were over to Starvation last week and killed the 'bows with a KCT black pearl spinner and a Pink splatter spinner. Caught one over 6 lbs.

Thanks Gary, too bad it took over a decade to make the Deer Creek thing happen. My KCT stuff works on the eyes at all the other lakes so I figure I just had to put in the time at DC.
As far as this weekend goes I had originally planned on Starvation and just dealing with the crowds, but I don't like the wind that is being forecast.
Oneida is my second choice but Sharon's work schedule is causing conflict.
Did you find any perch at Starvy?
