I'm headed to Lake Powell the second week of June with the family, and I'd like some info about fishing the lake! We'll be down there with a houseboat for 1 week - and I'll have a ski boat and jet skis as well, so getting to somewhere remote won't be a problem! Has anyone done well on the lake? If so, what should I know? Any pointers would be GREATLY appreciated!!

TheGrovBone,
Check out the Utah forum. They might know more than us? But, a very good question.

Lucky!

There have been some reports on the Utah forum a week or so ago.

Also check out ----- Waynes Words. He is a fishery biologist for Powell, and his site is considered the last word for info on the area.

You are going to have a blast in June. I go down to Lake Powell at least twice a year. This year all the fish are big and hungry. The limit on walleye was removed this year because of the huge walleye population down there. We caught them trolling, pitching jigs, casting lipless cranks and fishing for crappie. All the walleye are between 18 and 24 inches. The striped bass are huge this year and fat. The largemouth and smallmouth are nice to and easily caught on anything that looks like it should catch a bass. In June fish at daylight through mid morning and then after dinner through last light. The stripers will be in the main channel and visible on your fish finder as large archs surrounding what will look like a ball or cloud on your fish finder. The ball will be shad and every where you see shad you will find striped bass. I usually fish from Bullfrog to Hite and usually do best from Good Hope Bay to Farleys in the northern part of the lake.

Good luck and make sure you have new line on!!!
