Have the crawdads come into the shallows at Strawberry? I'd like to get some this weekend but I don't usually go up there till mid-summer when I can just walk along the shore and scoop 'em up.

Really? 249 views and not one person can tell me if I'm able to get into some crawdads this time of year at Strawberry?
Too many lurkers and not enough members or did I ask a stupid question?

Or nobody knows for sure! Was up there a week ago and saw some in the shallows off Rainbow Point but did not try catching any. Didn't look by the marina.

Was there a month ago and they were all over, should be even better for them now.

Haven't fished the for three or four years now so I couldn't tell ya.

I picked up some during ice off in the shallows. I was also there by the marina last weekend, but I didn't see any. I'm sure you can find some if you look around.

Hey man was up there last week for them and did pretty well. I was at a spot near chicken creek and got about a 15 gal cooler fool of them between me and a few buddies in a matter of a few hours. And we still were fishing enough to catch a few slot busters. Well honestly it was all me as two buddies slept the entire time and the other was my netting buddy.

I didnt' have my traps but I did it all with either a net for the guys right on shore or my favorite of placing three trebles in a type of umbrella rig and just pitching it out past ones I see ten feet or so out but not net-able. I dont' hook them at all I just place it near them and they grab it and you carry um in.

There are alot of small spawners but there are definitly some brutes in there.

Also I fished one rod with a minnow and couldn't keep the dads (and big cuts) off it. Just an Idea if you want a cage. Good luck man I'm sure you know what your doing more than I do haha.

All I know is I'm a fan of a group of friends and a 'dad boil.

Thank you very much. It looks like the wind is going to keep me off the water Saturday at Starvy so it looks like we are going after the crawdads at the berry. I just didn't want my kids to be disappointed if the craws weren't out and about.
Sounds like I better drown a minnow at the same time!
